SEVENTH PRECINCT
On June 22, 2004 PO. Fintan McCormic assigned to RMP 701 and Stephen Murphy assigned to RMP 717 were working at 1900x0700 tour of duty in the Seventh Precinct. At approximately 2250 hrs. they responded to a call for a burglary in progress at the Cherry wood Deli on Wantagh Avenue. Witnesses at the scene advised them that two subjects had just left the rear of the Deli walking toward Wantagh Avenue. They further stated that a third subject had climbed through an air conditioning opening on the rear wall. Police officer Garrett Fujarski arrived on the scene and assisted P0.s McCormic and Murphy in searching the rear of the store. A cash register was discovered in the air conditioning vent. P.0.s Fujarski and McCormic secured the area and requested K-9 P.O. O'Moore and his K-9 partner Ike found the subject hiding in the freezer. At the same time a notification was broadcast for the two subjects seen leaving the rear of the Deli. P.0. Murphy after a brief search apprehended the two subjects at a nearby Shell gas station.
Police Officers Fintan McCormic, Stephen Murphy and Garrett Fujarski worked together as a team using the resources available to them to bring this situation to a successful conclusion placing three subjects under arrest for burglary. It is my pleasure to honor the three of you as Top Cops of the Month for June 2004.
