TOP COP November 2004
FIFTH PRECINCT IS TOP COP FOR NOVEMBER 2004.

On November 13, 2004 P.O. Jeff Shaikh was working a 1900 x 0500 tour of duty assigned to RMP 511 in the Fifth Precinct. At approximately 2005 hrs. P.O. Shaikh observed a young white male walking alone on Hewlett St. in Franklin Square. The subject was extremely nervous, changing direction and avoiding the police car. P.O. Shaikh stopped the young male and noticed he was visibly shaking, perspiring, and stuttering. With nothing else to go on at that time P.O. Shaikh identified the youth and sent him on his way.
The following day P.O. Shaikh was signing on duty and was informed by the day tour operator that the Willow Road School was broken into during the night tour. P.O. Shaikh realizing that the school was in close proximity of the youth he had stopped and he put 2 and 2 together. He notified the Fifth Squad and the Fifth Pct. Desk Officer and responded to the youth’s house. P.O. Shaikh interviewed the youth’s [parents with the youth present. The youth made several res geste statements in front of his parents implicating himself in the burglary of the school. In addition he also gave information on the other subjects involved.
Because of P.O. Shaikh’s keen observations and his self initiated investigation, a case that had no leads or potential to be solved was closed with 5 arrests.
