JULY 2006
PO PETER SIKINGER
PO CHRIS MAHER
On July 26, 2006 Police Officers Peter Sikinger and Christopher Maher were working a night tour assigned to RMP 112 in Roosevelt. At 2120 hours they received a radio assignment for a suspicious person with a gun.
Upon their arrival at scene the Officers were met by the complainant who informed them she had an argument with her step father who had displayed a handgun and threatened to kill her. When the step father realized that the police had been called he ran out the back door into the yard with the gun in his hand.
Officers Sikinger and Maher entered the backyard and observed the subject standing next to the garage. The Officers drew their weapons and ordered the subject not to move. The subject ran behind the garage and the Officers gave chase. The subject had stopped and the Officers again ordered him to show his hands. After a few tense moments the subject began to move his hands, Officer Sikinger observed a handgun in the subjects right hand. The Officers ordered the subject to drop the gun several times. Finally the subject complied and put his weapon down.
Police Officers Peter Sikinger and Christopher Maher displayed a tremendous amount of courage and self control throughout this ordeal. Without incident an armed subject was placed under arrest and taken off the streets of Roosevelt.
