EIGHTH PRECINCT

On January 16, 2006 Police Officers Stephan Perota and Michael Incandela were working a night tour assigned to RMP 818. While on routine patrol at approximately 0045 hours the officers heard an audible alarm. As the officers drove toward the Nextel Communications Store, located at 3695 Hempstead Tpke in Levittown, they observed a male standing outside the location.
As RMP 818 approached, the male subject entered a green Ford Expedition occupied by a second male. The SUV attempted to leave the scene but was blocked by RMP 818. The passenger exited the vehicle and fled through the rear yards of adjacent homes. Officer Incandela stayed with the vehicle and its driver while Officer Perota chased the passenger through the rear yards. The officers requested assistance and broadcast a description of the fleeing subject. Police Officer Mannion of the Canine Unit responded and along with his K-9 partner Hunter located the subject hiding in a rear yard.
Upon further investigation at the Eighth Squad both subjects were found to be part of a burglary ring responsible for a string of burglaries of cell phone stores in Nassau County and New York City.
