FIRST PRECINCT

On February 4, 2008 Police Officers Richard Mahepath and Sam Augello were working a day tour assigned to RMP 117. The Officers responded to a domestic disturbance involving a gun on Willet Place in Roosevelt. Police Officers Kevin Obrien and Christopher Maher were working in plainclothes and responded in unmarked RMP 1050 as backup. As the Officers arrived on scene they were met by the victim’s roommates who advised them that her boyfriend was holding her at gunpoint in one of the upstairs bedrooms.

The four Officers went to the second floor and found three locked bedroom doors. They heard screams and a disturbance coming from one of the rooms. The officers covering the entire second floor ordered the occupants to open the door and come out. Several attempts were made to convince the male to come out but he did not comply finally Officer Augello kicked down the door and found the male subject standing in the middle of the room. The female had escaped out the window during the commotion. The subject was taken into custody and a silver handgun along with a bulletproof vest was recovered from the room.

Police Officers Mahepath, Augello, Obrien and Maher worked together as a team protecting themselves and the residents of Willet5 Place from a violent man holding a woman at gunpoint
