Top Cop Distinguished Service Award 2005

PBA President Gary Delaraba presents award to Police Officers Valerie Troise and John Visconte.
On August 11, 2005 Police officers Valerie Troise and John Visconte of the 7th Pct responded to a violent family disturbance. Upon arrival Officer Troise was informed that the subject had threatened his family and that there were numerous firearms in the house. Fearing that the family members may be in danger, she was moving towards the house when the subject suddenly appeared at the front door loading a shotgun. She ordered the subject to drop the gun while moving towards cover and immediately came under fire.
Officer Visconte arrived as the gunfight began and also came under fire, one round striking the front headlight of the RMP just a few feet from his position. Both Officers returned fire and were able to neutralize the assailant.
For their bravery and coolness under fire, we are proud to call Officers Troise and Visconte our “Top Cops” of 2005.
