AUGUST 2008
P.O. ADAM FISCHER
P.O. MICHAEL INCANDELA
EIGHTH PRECINCT
On August 3, 2008 Police Officers Fisher and Incandela received a radio assignment for a domestic disturbance on Benjamin Ave. in Hicksville. Upon their arrival at scene a female complainant advised them that her live in boyfriend had beaten her with his fists and threatened to kill her with a knife. He told her to call the Police so he could stab the Officers and they would shoot him. The male subject fled the scene on foot towards Old Country Rd. The Officers searched the area with negative results.
When the Officers returned to the house it was completely dark. The Officers looked into the kitchen window and saw the boyfriend holding his girlfriend in a choke hold with a large knife at her back.
At this point the Officers kicked down the locked doors and drew their weapons ordering the subject to release his girlfriend. After several tense moments the subject complied releasing his girlfriend. He held on to the knife and began to move towards the Officers. Officer Fischer was able to deploy OC spray into the subjects face blinding him, allowing both Officers to tackle the subject knocking the knife out of his hand.
Police Officers Adam Fischer and Michael Incandela displayed a tremendous amount of restraint and courage bringing a deadly situation to a safe conclusion.
