Patrolman Trofemuk while operating a vehicle at the intersection of Hempstead Turnpike and Daffodil Avenue, Franklin Square, at 0545 hours on May 8, 1961, was in an accident with a truck. Patrolman Trofemuk died in Meadowbrook Hospital May 14, 1961 of internal injuries as a result of the accident.
