Cops: Man tried to lure girl at bus stop into car

A man drove up to a teen girl at a bus stop in Baldwin and tried to entice her to get into his car, Nassau police said in a Monday news release.
It was at 7:35 a.m. Friday when the man pulled up alongside the girl, 16, who was standing at a bus stop on Grand Avenue and Church Street, and started a conversation with her.
He asked her name and telephone number and other personal questions, then "opened the passenger door of the vehicle telling her to get in and he would drive her to school," the police statement said.
"The victim, feeling uncomfortable, gave the subject a false name and phone number. A bus arrived and when the victim got on, the subject drove off."
The girl described the driver of the car, a dark BMW, as a black man, about 30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches, with dark skin, brown eyes, a thin mustache, a scar on his forehead, wearing a black sweater and black do-rag, police said.
First Squad detectives ask anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
