Knife-wielding man robs Wantagh ice cream shop

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the crime to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
Knife-wielding man robs Wantagh ice cream shop

A man with a knife entered a Carvel on Merrick Road in Wantagh Sunday night and demanded money. The cashier complied, police said, and the robber fled the scene.

Nassau County police are searching for the man.

The robbery occurred at the Carvel at 3245 Merrick Rd. at about 8:20 p.m., police said.

There was one other employee in the store at the time.

No one was injured during the robbery, police said.
