Police arrest 1 after Jericho van chase

JERICHO - Police say a man was arrested after leading officers on a chase and crashing into several police vehicles Wednesday.

Authorities say a concerned resident called 911 about a suspicious van, and when officers responded to the call, the van's driver refused to pull over. The driver tried to flee down a West Birchwood street and hit five police cars in the process.

At some point during the chase, police opened fire on the van, striking the windshield. Police eventually cornered the driver on the front lawn of a home and arrested him.

The driver could face attempted murder charges, police say. Two officers suffered minor injuries.
