Teens charged in robbery try - in front of cop

Two 16-year-olds from Queens attempted to rob a male near a park in Valley Stream Tuesday, striking him in the face - right in front of a Fifth Precinct police officer, police said.

The officer who witnessed the robbery attempt near Hendrickson Park arrested one suspect while another officer caught the second would-be robber a short time after the 4:03 p.m. incident, Nassau police said.

Danny Rowe, 16, of 226th Street, and Ethan Johnson, 16, of 226th Street, both in Laurelton, Queens, were charged with second-degree attempted robbery and are scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Police said the victim suffered a cut to the face.
