An officer who spotted a van matching a description of the suspects traveling west on Dutch Broadway had tried to stop the vehicle, but it took off and zoomed toward St. Albans, Queens.

The New York City Police Department joined in the chase.

During the pursuit, which spilled over the Nassau County border into Queens, the suspects fired on officers.

The van eventually stopped at Linden Boulevard and 175th Street, and the four people inside the van were then taken into custody.

The shot suspect is being treated at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, police said. It was not clear at what point during the pursuit the shooting took place. None of the suspects' names were released. Two weapons were recovered, police said.

The NYPD referred all inquiries to Nassau.

Daniel Edward Rosen contributed to this story.
