Suspect Nabbed In Elmont Drive By Shooting
A teenage party crasher who opened fire into a crowd of people at an Elmont home late Sunday night, wounding four, was arrested and charged with assault, Nassau police said.
Two partygoers were hit in the foot, one in the wrist and another in the leg, police said.
Amir Samuel, 16, showed up uninvited at the private graduation party on Hoffman Avenue in Elmont shortly after 11 p.m. and, "being denied entry and following a verbal confrontation, he fired numerous shots from a handgun into a crowd of about 50 people as he ran from the scene," a police report said.
Samuel, of 54 Crystal St., Elmont, was arrested at 12:03 a.m. and charged with three counts of first-degree assault and one count of second-degree assault.
The wounded party-goers were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said.
Samuel was arrested on Fourth Street and Belmont Avenue in Elmont, and he faces arraignment Monday in First District Court, Hempstead.
