Many Nassau County residents are on high alert due to an increase in home robberies throughout the area.
According to police, neighborhoods in Manhasset, Woodbury, Plainview and Jericho have all seen a rise in home intrusions because they border the Long Island Expressway, which provides a quick getaway.
Last week, police arrested one man from Queens for allegedly breaking into three Nassau houses. Officials say the bad economy and an increase in drug use on Long Island are also contributing to the problem.Officers have increased patrols and urge residents to report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods.
