Cops: Oceanside student arrested in street robbery

An Oceanside High School student was arrested Friday night in a 2-month-old strong-arm robbery of fellow teenagers, Nassau County police said Saturday.

Police detectives say Alon Nisim, 18, who is to be arraigned Saturday on the felony robbery charge, was part of a group of four robbers who approached three boys March 21 at 9:55 p.m. and demanded cash in the parking lot of the Brower Avenue Shopping Center in Oceanside, police said.

One of the victims refused, and one of the robbers punched the victim in the face, prompting one of the victims to hand over $15, police said. The robbers then fled.

Then on Friday night, cops spotted Nisim walking on his block on Silver Lane, where they arrested him at 9:25 p.m.

It wasn't immediately clear how the police officers who arrested him identified Nisim as being part of the crime.

Nisim, of 406 Silver Lane, is to appear Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead, police said.
