Cops use pepper spray to subdue man with knife

Police subdued a knife-wielding Hicksville man with pepper spray yesterday after he threatened a woman at his house, then lunged at two officers with the 8-inch knife in hand, Nassau police said.

Luis E. Feliciano, 50, of Benjamin Avenue, was charged with third-degree assault, possession of a dangerous weapon, menacing a police officer, unlawful imprisonment, menacing and resisting arrest, police said. He is scheduled to be arraigned today at First District Court in Hempstead.

Around 1:40 a.m. yesterday, police said, two male officers, whom police did not identify, responded to a domestic dispute at Feliciano's home and found him menacing a woman with a steak knife. When the officers went inside the house, police said, Feliciano rushed at them, waving the knife. The officers yelled at Feliciano to drop the knife, police said, and spurted pepper spray on him as they moved to arrest him. During the struggle, Feliciano pushed the woman, 42, to the floor, police said.

The woman, who was not identified, was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow for treatment of head, neck and ear pain, police said.
