Cops: Man fired six shots at pedestrian

Victim, 39, was not hurt in Uniondale incident

Nassau police Tuesday arrested a suspect and charged him with attempted assault after he fired six shots at a man on a Uniondale street Tuesday evening.

The victim, a 39-year-old man, was not hit by the gunfire. He had been walking on the 800 block of Uniondale Avenue at around 5:45 p.m. when he saw a maroon van following him, then saw a man get out of the van, point a weapon and open fire, police said.

"The victim was able to duck and was not struck," a Wednesday police report said. The victim called the police and a report was sent out to patrol units to be alert for the van. A short time later, three First Precinct police officers saw and stopped the vehicle, police said.

Martin Akeem 25, of 1008 Ditmas Ave., Uniondale, was arrested and charged with attempted assault, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment. The driver of the car, Simone Foss, 20, of 32 E. Davis St., Roosevelt, was charged with criminal facilitation.

Both face arraignment at First District Court, Hempstead.
