Four police officers suffered smoke inhalation Monday when they rescued a Westbury woman from the second floor of her burning home, Nassau police said.

The woman, 56, whose name was not released, was transported to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow where she was listed in stable condition, police said. She sustained smoke inhalation and burns to her hands and arms, police said.

The four officers, Charles Javorowsky, Mark Iovino, Brian McQuade and Daniel Doerrie, all from the Third Precinct, were also taken to the hospital where they were listed in stable condition, police said.

When the officers responded to the alarm at 14 Rugby Rd. at 4:45 p.m., they met the woman's husband outside the burning building, police said. He told them his wife was on the second floor calling for help, but he was unable to make it through the fire to help her, police said.
