Man arrested in Roosevelt machete attack

A Baldwin man has been arrested in the machete attack of another man outside the home of an ex-girlfriend, police said.
The assault occurred on Jan. 20 at 1:10 a.m. in Roosevelt.
On Thursday, Nassau County Police said, they arrested the assailant, Marcus Adams, 43, of Fenimore Place in Baldwin, charging him in the attack.
Police said Adams saw the victim, who is not being identified, outside the home of an ex-girlfriend on Williams Street in Roosevelt. Police said Adams became enraged -- and confronted the man with a machete. The man ran. Police said Adams caught him at the corner of Williams Street and Rose Avenue, where he hit the man with the machete "multiple times" in the head.
The victim was taken to Nassau University Medical Center, where, police said, doctors needed 16 staples to close the lacerations in his scalp.
Now Adams is facing charges of first-degree assault, false personation and second-degree and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Police said at the time of his arrest Adams was in possession of a loaded .45-cal. handgun.
Adams is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.
