Cops: Man sent lewd text messages to NCPD Detective posing as 14 Yr old 'girl'

A New Jersey man faces arraignment Tuesday in Nassau County Court after he sent lewd instant text messages to someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl but who turned out to be a Nassau police detective.
In the Internet sting, Darin Gaba, 28, on Oct. 23 began sending messages to the detective who was posing as a girl, the police said.
Gaba sent the messages "enticing the detective to engage in lewd sexual acts," a police report said. He sent four more sexually explicit messages as recently as Feb. 6, the police said.
New Jersey State Police, acting on a Nassau County warrant, arrested Gaba at his home, at 183 Broad St., 2nd Floor, in Bloomfield, N.J., on Feb. 13.
He was charged with three counts of attempted dissemination of indecent material to a minor and three counts of attempting to endanger the welfare of a child. After arrest processing Monday by detectives at the county's Crimes Against Property Squad, he will be arraigned on those charges Tuesday in First District Court, Hempstead.
