Cops: Massapequa parents left children, 2 to 9, in car unattended

Police were called to the parking lot of the Marshalls on Hicksville Road in North Massapequa after someone reported four children - ages 9, 6, 2, and 2 - sitting inside an unlocked car, police said.
An officer waited with the children for 17 minutes before the parents emerged from the store, police said.
William Hartman, 46, and Stephanie Hartman, 37, were arrested just before 8 p.m. Friday and each charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Both are expected to be arraigned Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.
The children were released to their grandmother, police said.
