Hicksville teen lures friend to street corner and attacks him with a hammer.
Hicksville Teen accused of hammering friend

A Hicksville teen called an acquaintance on a cell phone Sunday afternoon and asked him to meet him at a Hicksville streetcorner -- then hit him on the back of the head with a hammer, the police said.

A police report did not say what motive Salvatore Grimaldi, 17, had for the hammer attack. He was charged with felony assault.

Grimaldi made the call to the 18-year-old victim at 3:25 p.m. and asked for the meeting at Gables Road and Gables Drive.

A witness drove the victim to a hospital where he was treated for a cut and bruises on his head.

Second Squad Detective James McIntosh arrested Grimaldi, of 175 5th Ave., who surrendered at the Nassau police station house in Woodbury.

Grimaldi was scheduled for arraignment Monday on a second-degree assault charge in First District Court, Hempstead.
