People who brought in the guns were granted anonymity and paid $200 each in cash in exchange for the firearms, police said.

The program, held at the Christian Light Missionary Baptist Church, was sponsored by Nassau's police department, district attorney and county executive.

Saturday's event was the sixth buyback the county held. The money comes from forfeiture funds.
