Nassau holds gun buyback program

People came to the Tabernacle of Joy Church and turned in their weapons anonymously. Nearly 200 guns were collected, police say.

Nassau Police Commissioner Lawrence Mulvey believes the gun buyback program will help get illegal weapons off the streets and rein in violence.

Mulvey says in less than two years the police department and the district attorney's office have purchased more than 1,500 guns.

Police say they will host another gun buyback program within the next couple months.
