Nassau police seeking fake NYPD cop

WESTBURY - Nassau police are looking for a cop impersonator they say terrorized residents twice in one day.

Police say the man robbed a couple at gunpoint inside their car around 3:30 p.m. Thursday on Post Avenue in Westbury. He identified himself as an NYPD officer, according to police.

Nassau Detective Sgt. Anthony Repalone says the man, described as a white or Hispanic man in his 40s, tried to rob another woman later that night. However, police say that would-be victim didn’t buy his act.

Authorities say the man is driving a late model black Range Rover with tinted windows. Anyone with information is asked to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
