A 16-year-old walking near the Jericho Library was robbed at gunpoint early Sunday by three men who fled in a sport utility vehicle, police said.
The trio was nabbed a short time later in Jericho, Nassau County police said. The gun turned out to be a BB gun.
Police said the incident occurred at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, as the 16-year-old was walking near the library on Merry Lane. It was then, police said, the three men, all from Suffolk, exited a Nissan Armada and confronted the teen.
One suspect brandished what appeared to be a silver-and-black pistol, police said, and the trio demanded money.
Police said the teen handed over a wallet and cell phone.
The three then fled. The victim returned home and called police.
Police said they found the vehicle - and, two of the three suspects - a short time later on Michelle Lane in Jericho. The third suspect was arrested later near SUNY Old Westbury. The weapon, which turned out to be a BB gun, was recovered from the vehicle, police said.
Arrested were Shekib Bashir, 18, of 9 Florence Dr., Manorville; Anthony Laboy, 18, of 4 Standish Rd., Brentwood; and Kendel Burnette, 17, of 1511 Gardener Dr., Brentwood, police said. All were charged with second-degree robbery, police said.
The three are scheduled for arraignment Monday in First District Court in Hempstead.
