Cops: Plainview man robbed two banks

The same man robbed two different branches of a Capital One Bank in less than a week Thursdaybut his greed this time led to his capture, police said
Edward Aukstolis, 55, of Miriam Ave., Plainview, was charged with robbing a Capital One Bank branch at 1105 Old Country Rd., Plainview, Thursday, and with robbing the Capital One Bank branch at 570 Stewart Ave., Bethpage on Friday.
Det. Sgt. John Giambrone said Aukstolis went into the Plainview branch about 2 p.m., and handed a teller a note demanding money. "After he was handed a pile of money, he didn't feel it was enough and demanded more," Giambrone said. Another bank employee was aware that a robbery was taking place, and called 911, police said.
The teller was able to stall Aukstolis, police said, and he stayed there waiting for more money long enough for Eighth Precinct officers to arrive and arrest him while he was still inside the bank.
Aukstolis, an Air France cargo supervisor, was also charged shortly after his capture with the Bethpage robbery. Aukstolis fit the description, matched the bank surveillance photos, and Giambrone said, "The demand note was almost identical to the first note."
No weapon was found, and no one was injured in either robbery, police said.
Aukstolis was to be arraigned Friday on two counts of third degree robbery in First District Court, Hempstead
