Cops: Freeport man arrested in Roosevelt stabbing

A Freeport man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing in Roosevelt Saturday, according to a Nassau police report.
Detectives said Rene Cruz, 38, of 3 Smith St., got into a verbal dispute with another man at about 6:40 p.m. Saturday at Delmy's Deli and stabbed him in the abdomen. Cruz then slashed the victim, 32, in the wrist and back, police said.
When Cruz tried to flee, witnesses subdued him and held him until police arrived, according to the report. The knife was found at the scene.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition.
