Cops: Burglar caught in the act in Roosevelt

A Roosevelt man who broke into a neighborhood pizza parlor by smashing the front glass window was caught early Friday by Nassau police officers on routine patrol, police said.

The two First Precinct officers heard an alarm ringing at Paradise Pizza at 243 Nassau Rd., and responded. There they saw the front window shattered and Wilfred Haynes, 45, inside the restaurant, police said.

They arrested Haynes, of 27 Hale Place, at 3:38 a.m. and charged him with burglary. He was scheduled for arraignment Friday at First District Court, Hempstead, but no information was available on whether the arraignment took place.
