Syosset man arrested on child porn charges

A Syosset man accused of posting child porn photos on the Internet was arrested Tuesday after Nassau police detectives got a search warrant to look for evidence at his home, police said.

Zachary King, 23, of 29 Beatrice Ave., was charged with three counts of promoting the sexual performance of a child. During the search of his home police found several printouts of child pornography images, police said.

In addition, King "posted three files on three separate dates on the Internet making them available for distribution to others while knowing that these files contained images of a boy, appearing to be approximately 12 years of age, who in part was posed lewdly and engaged in sexual acts," a Wednesday police report said.

King allegedly posted the images on March 8, 26 and 29 on the file-sharing site tinypic.com, which advises users, "Nothing offensive, please!" Tinypic.com describes itself as "a photo and video sharing service that lets you easily upload, link, and share your images and videos on MySpace, eBay, Orkut Scrapbooks, blogs, and message boards."

The case was investigated by the Nassau police Internet child exploitation section of the crimes against property squad.

During the search of King's home police also found five plastic prescription bottles of what appeared to be marijuana, and he was charged with unlawful possession of the drug, police said.

He was scheduled for arraignment at First District Court, Hempstead.
