6 in court after report of assault on family

Six men were in court facing assault charges Monday after they attacked a family outside a Uniondale laundromat, hitting the victims with beer bottles, Nassau police said.

The attack took place Sunday at around 10:45 p.m. near the Super Laundromat, 560 Jerusalem Ave., police said.

After a report of a fight in progress, the police arrived to find that the six men had assaulted a 38-year-old father and his two sons, 17 and 14, with beer bottles, police said.

Bureau of Special Operations and First Precinct officers arrested Carlos Garcia, 28, and Walter Caceres, 54, of William Street, Hempstead; Andres Molina, 32, Jose Molina, 28, and Raul Molina, 25, of Meadowbrook Road, Uniondale; and Pedro Hercules, 22, of S. Franklin Street, Hempstead.

The victims refused medical attention for apparent minor injuries.

The defendants were charged with second-degree assault and were arraigned Monday at First District Court, Hempstead.
