Woodbury Man Arrested for Multiple Burglaries

A Woodbury man was arrested in connection with several burglaries committed in Plainview and Old Bethpage.

Police say on March 8 at 8:40 p.m. 46-year-old John Kraft entered an office building on East Bethpage Road in Plainview, broke open two vending machines and stole money and merchandise from inside the machine. On March 15 at 4 p.m., police say Kraft walked into the Old Bethpage Elementary School on Round Swamp Road, pretending to be a vending machine repairman, and when left alone, broke into the machine stealing cash and merchandise.

Police say he later entered the St. Pius School on Washington Avenue in Plainview, attempted to place a vending machine on a hand truck and remove it from the building, then put it back when challenged by a school employee and left in a van.

Police found Kraft in his van on South Service Road in Plainview. He was arrested and charged with burglary and possession of burglary tools.
