Nassau cops charge upstate man over indecent material

An upstate man was arrested Tuesday after he used a live Web camera to send indecent pictures of himself to someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl but who turned out to be a Nassau County detective, police said.
Mark Gettleman, 58, of Highland Falls, was charged with five felony counts of attempted disseminating of indecent material to a child, the police said.
Gettleman sent the lewd pictures on five separate occasions from Nov. 1 to Feb. 28 after using the Internet to contact an undercover detective posing as a girl, the police said.
Crimes Against Property Squad Detectives John McGee and Peter Badalucco arrested Gettleman at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at his Orange County home, at 6 Old State Rd., #106, Highland Falls.
The detectives also charged him with five misdemeanor counts of attempted endangering the welfare of a child.
Gettleman was scheduled for arraignment in First District Court, Hempstead, on Wednesday.
