Two arrested for possession of cocaine, crack cocaine

Two Brooklyn men await arraignment after being arrested Monday night on a Freeport corner and charged with possession of cocaine and crack cocaine.
Nassau County Police said that Edwin DeJesus Jr. of Euclid Avenue and Raymond Velasquez of Nassau Street, both in Brooklyn, did "intentionally possess and sell a quantity of cocaine to another person."
Police would only say that the quantity was "in excess" of six ounces of the drug.
Police said that the sale was made at about 4 p.m. on April 9 in Baldwin.
Then, DeJesus and Velasquez arranged for another deal for Monday, police.
This time, officers from the Bureau of Special Operations and the Freeport Police Department arrested the men inside their car near the intersection of Sunrise Highway and North Ocean Avenue in Freeport.
Police said that the two defendants "were found to be in possession of a white powder substance believed to be cocaine and crack cocaine."
DeJesus was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, police said.
Velasquez was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, police said.
Both men are to be arraigned Tuesday in First District Court, Hempstead.
