Three teens charged in Roosevelt robbery

A 28-year-old man was robbed Tuesday in Roosevelt by three teenage suspects, one of them armed with what appeared to be a handgun, as he rode his bicycle across a grocery store parking lot, Nassau police said.
The three teens, all Roosevelt residents, were quickly arrested and all were charged with robbery and possession of a dangerous weapon.
Officers recovered a black .177 caliber pellet gun in the possession of one suspect, 15, whose name was not made public by the police. The other suspects were Jamarl Berry, 17, of Linden Place, and Kourtney Jones, 16, of Raymond Avenue.
Jones was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana; and an additional charge of criminal possession of stolen property after officers found he was carrying a cell phone that had been taken in a Sunday robbery in Freeport, police said.
Detectives said the teens accosted the victim as he bicycled outside Wester Beef, on Nassau Road, at 5:36 p.m. Tuesday. They demanded and forcibly removed cash from the victim's pockets and ran away, heading south on Nassau Road, police said.
Responding to an emergency call about the robbery, Bureau of Special Operations police officers saw the three at Valdour Court and Nassau Road where, after investigation, they placed the teens under arrest.
All face arraignment Wednesday at First District Court, Hempstead.
