Nassau officials to push ahead with 'Operation Gateway'
OYSTER BAY - Nassau County officials say they are continuing with "Operation Gateway," which is aimed at identifying and limiting any criminal or terrorist activity on New York's waterways.

Joel Fucoco, of the Nassau County Marine Unit, says there are vulnerable facilities along Long Island's shore that could be targeted by terrorists. His job is to be on the lookout for possible threats.
"It's not just a matter of homeland security," Fucoco says. "It's a matter of hometown security."
So far this summer, "Operation Gateway" has netted over 80 violators off the coast of Long Island.
"Residents can sleep well knowing that those borders are being protected through 'Operation Gateway,'" says Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano.
