NEW CASSEL: 4 arrested in armed robbery of man

The four attackers, two of them younger than 18, surrounded the 25-year-old man on a street in New Cassel, displayed a gun, pulled out a knife, punched him in the head - and stole his gold chain and money, police said. Then they ran off.

But, Nassau County Police said, the attackers didn't get far after the robbery Wednesday night on Prospect Avenue. They were arrested "in the vicinity" of the crime. Now, police said, the four are awaiting arraignment.

Police said the robbery occurred at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. Arrested were a boy, 15, whom police did not identify because he is a juvenile; Kwahmaine Cheatham, 18, of Delaware Street, Huntington; Marc Chery, 18, of West Hills Road, Huntington Station; and Lawrence Dolce, 16, of Juanita Avenue in Huntington.

The defendants were charged with first-degree robbery, a felony, as well as fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon. The three are charged as adults, and the 15-year-old as a juvenile.
