3 arrested in Merrick beating and robbery

A teenage boy and two men were arrested by Nassau police officers who tracked them down soon after the three beat and robbed a man at knifepoint in Merrick on Wednesday night, police said.
Arrested on first-degree robbery charges were three Freeport residents, Guillermo Antonio Hernandez, 18, of 98 Rose Ave., Apt. 2H; Michael Ebinger, 22, of 30 Wallace St.; and a 13 year-old boy.
In the 11 p.m. crime the three approached a 26-year-old man near Merrick Road and Hewlett Avenue and all three began punching the victim and demanded his property, police said. Hernandez also took out a knife, police said.
They robbed the man of his watch, cell phone and cash, then ran off and were arrested on Sunrise Highway and Bellmore Avenue.
The victim did not require immediate medical assistance for his injuries.
A Wednesday police news release said the suspects, including the 13-year-old, were scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Hempstead. The news release did not specify whether the juvenile would be charged as an adult by Nassau prosecutors, who routinely bring adult charges against defendants 16 or older.
