Cops: Man Followed Underage Girl, Attempted to Coerce

Officers from the Nassau County Police Department Third Squad are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man who followed an underage girl yesterday in New Hyde Park and attempted to engage her in conversation.

At 4:17 p.m. yesterday, the 14-year-old female victim was walking on Leonard Boulevard when an unknown male exited a four-door sedan. He began to follow the girl and engage her in conversation.

The victim got scared and began to run away, at which point the male subject chased after her, asking where she was going. The victim continued to run towards her home, and eventually the male subject fled in an unknown direction.

In addition to the sketch of the subject on the left, he is described as a white male between 40 and 50 years of age with gray hair. He was seen wearing a gray T-shirt and tan shorts, and the vehicle he exited from was a silver four-door sedan.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
