Gun buyback program held in Roosevelt

The Nassau County Police Department and the district attorney's office held a gun buyback program in a Roosevelt church today.
People dropped off their handguns, no questions asked, and received $200 for each weapon.
Authorities say the program has been a huge success, allowing them get more than 1,500 weapons off the streets over the past two years.
"Every one of the guns that is voluntarily given to us is one less weapon that won't be used in some domestic violence, won't be stolen in a burglary," says Deputy Commissioner William Flanagan, of the Nassau County Police Department.
The next gun buyback program is expected to be held in late December.
