Cops: Burglar nabbed after victim calls 911 from another room

A suspected burglar was arrested Tuesday after the victim called 911 from downstairs while the thief ransacked the home upstairs, police said.
The 20-year-old occupant of a home on Hollywood Drive in Plainview told police he heard the front doorbell ring several times at about 1:20 p.m., looked out the window, saw no one, and then "heard noise coming from his basement," Nassau police said.
He started downstairs, police said, only to be confronted by John Paccione, 38, of Dix Hills, who was wearing dark clothing, glasses, gloves and a scarf covering his face, police said.
Paccione used a pry bar to menace the resident and then demanded jewelry and cash, police said.
Police said once the 20-year-old led Paccione upstairs, the burglar ordered him back downstairs. There, police said, the victim called 911.
The burglar continued to fill a pillowcase with jewelry, police said, but when he tried to flee the home he ran straight into the responding officers who pursued him and arrested him.
Paccione, of Clarendon Street, was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree and second-degree burglary and resisting arrest. He will face arraignment Wednesday in
