Cops: 3 Baldwin teens attempt robbery on deliveryman

Three Baldwin teenagers ordered a delivery of Chinese food Thursday night as part of a plan to rob the deliveryman of his money and the food, Nassau police said. The teens attacked the deliveryman, punching him in the head, but ran off without the food or money when a nearby resident came out and yelled at them.
Jaleel Dejesus, 17, of 986 Church St., Kayvon Gonzalez, 16, of 2767 Carnation Ave., and Cheneere Barrett, 16, of 930 Cherrywood Dr., were caught soon after the 8:35 p.m. incident and all three were charged, as adults, with attempted robbery, the police said.
The three telephoned an order from the Mayflower Restaurant on Milburn Avenue in Baldwin, asking that the food be delivered to a home on Harvard Place in Baldwin, the police said.
Dejesus and Gonzalez hid near the house while Barrett acted as the lookout, and when the deliveryman arrived with the food, Dejesus and Gonzales confronted the victim, the police said. Dejesus punched the victim in the head knocking him to the ground, and he and Gonzalez tried to steal the driver's money and food but ran off without any proceeds when a Harvard Place resident yelled at them, the police said.
The victim sustained pain to his head and lacerations to both knees.
The three teens were scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Hempstead on Friday.
