Cops: Baldwin robbers nabbed after car accident

Three men who robbed a Baldwin gas station at gunpoint late Wednesday were arrested after they got into an accident on the Southern State Parkway while fleeing police in a getaway car, authorities said.
The men robbed the Valero gas station at 2054 Grand Ave. at 11:07 p.m., police said. Two of the men displayed handguns as the third man took money from the cash register and a cell phone from a customer, Nassau police said.
The suspects fled in an awaiting car, driven by a fourth man.
A First Precinct officer saw the car heading north on Grand Avenue and tried to pull if over, "at which time it entered Southern State Parkway and was in a collision with a taxi," police said.
The four occupants ran toward Hempstead Lake State Park. Three of them were caught, and a handgun and cell phone were recovered, police said.
Police identified the suspects as Justin Turner, 20, of 1215 E. 51st St., Brooklyn; Robert Brunson, 21, of 5801 Glenwood Rd., Brooklyn; and Kyle Patoir, 18, of 20 Hoover St., Freehold, N.J.
Each suspect was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, first-degree criminal use of a firearm, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, three counts of second-degree robbery and four counts of first-degree robbery, police said.
The men are scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at First District Court, Hempstead.
A police news release did not say whether there were injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
