Arrest after 2 kids left home alone

A Baldwin mother left her 6-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter alone at home for a four-day weekend without arranging for anyone else to take care of them, the Nassau police said.
Cindy E. Roberts, 26, was arrested at her Grand Avenue home Wednesday night and her children were placed in foster care by Child Protective Services, the police said.
Roberts left the children on their own from 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, until Monday, Feb. 11, "without an adequate plan for her children's needs," the police said.
First Precinct Police Officers Sean Mulligan and Thomas Derby arrested Roberts and charged her with two counts of child endangerment, a misdemeanor. She was scheduled for arraignment Thursday in First District Court, Hempstead.
