A woman turned the tables on a purse-snatcher Tuesday evening in Mineola, chasing the man down and not only getting her purse back - but his jacket as well.
Nassau County police said the incident happened at about 6 p.m. when the suspect grabbed a purse front the 32-year-old woman as she sat on a bench at the Long Island Rail Road Station in Mineola.
The woman, whose identity was not released because she is the victim of a crime, chased the robber and grabbed him. Police said the man pushed the woman to the ground and fled. But she didn't give up there.
Police said the woman got up, continued to chase the man and cornered him in an alley behind a building on Main Street. She pushed him against a parked car, police said.
The suspect "wiggled out" of his jacket and fled, police said. He also left behind the stolen purse.
The woman suffered minor abrasions to her hands and knees when she was pushed to the ground, but she did not require medical assistance, according to police.
