Nassau Plans For New Police Academy

MINEOLA, NY (1010 WINS) -- Plans for a new Nassau County Police Academy are to be announced today. County Executive Thomas Suozzi says the police academy will be in the Hawthorn School in Massapequa - which is currently being used by Nassau BOCES as a teacher training center.

Police Benevolent Association President Gary Dela Raba says it's been a long fight to get the county to approve the new police academy.

The current police academy is a group of trailers near the county jail in East Meadow.
