Nassau County debuts new Reach program
Nassau County has started implementing a new program to help find people with cognitive disorders such as autism or Alzheimer's who have gone missing.
Karen Siler, a parent of a 19-year-old autistic teen, teamed up with Nassau lawmakers to create the Reach program after her son went missing last October.
The program begins with a call to 911. Once the call is made, local authorities are alerted of the missing person, what they look like and where they like to hang out.In order to utilize the new system, residents must first register the person with the Reach program
